Wreath Week: Front Door Wreaths

Since you all know that I have an undying affection for wreaths, I’m so excited that we are having a “Wreath Week” here at Delighting In Today!

My front doors were in desperate need of a seasonal update.

Just like you pull out your riding boots and fall jackets and scarves and warm fabrics and earth tones for your fall wardrobe…Wait, who am I kidding? I’m still wearing shorts and sleeveless tees. Ah well… It’s nice to pretend.

But nonetheless, it is fall and my front doors needed to show it!

They were still decked out for spring and summer.

And, alas…the sweet summer lemons had begun to fade away. {Oh, but I still love them so!}

I may try to revive the lemons next spring… But for now?

Bring on autumn!

I started with this pile of supplies:

And just played over the course of several days until I was happy.

I don’t know if anyone is wondering…But I just want to put it out there…I work on almost all my projects over days – even weeks – as time permits. I glue some little something on one day, fiddle with some ribbon the next, stick some pins in a few days later. Sometimes I have time to sit down and just do it all at once, but…not normally. So, yeah, I’ve got unfinished projects piled up somewhere {last week the dining room table was covered in a project…we’d been eating in the family room, on the sofas, having “picnics” on the floor…aren’t we glamorous?}, but it’s the price I pay to let my creative side sing and focus on my family and the truly important things in life {however, I did really need to clean off the table}. So when I show {almost any} finished projects, please know I didn’t just whip these up in one day in 10 minutes. This definitely a process. You get to see the end, but you don’t really get to see the middle. :) So…there…that’s out! Hopefully that’s encouraging to someone.

So anyway! I was talking about wreaths!

I really had fun with these!

Nolan spray painted the big wreath forms for me with glitter spray paint. Have you all seen the glitter spray paint?! Oh…very cool! I found this stuff at Michaels. It’s Krylon Glitter Blast in Bronze Blaze. It was a toss up between the bronze and gold. I opted for the bronze. Next time I’ll try the gold.

Here you can kind of see the glitter glit.
{Because that’s what glitter does, dontcha know. It glits.}

The smaller wreath forms were first wrapped in brown packing paper {such a weird craft supply, but I use it all the time!} so the white Styrofoam wouldn’t show through, then wrapped in burlap ribbon garland, and then I added moss.

The moss. Oh the moss! Have you all seen the “moss rolls?!” No kidding, it’s moss on a weird plasticy “ribbon” rolled up on a spool. When I discovered it at JoAnns I got really excited! Soooo cool! {You can see what the spool looks like if you scroll back up to the picture of the supplies.}

Then I stuck some other things in {using mostly hot glue to hold it all together}, and there you have it!

And because I got a little carried away in the happiness of taking pictures, I have now given you wreath picture overload. Sorry. :)

Welcome, autumn! Come right in and pull up a chair!
