I know you all are on tenterhooks* to know what I wore to the ballet!
Right?
Right?!
{Well, even you aren’t…}
Viola!
I know… You can’t see much of it, huh?
I talked Nolan into taking some more pictures for you.
Can I just say that it’s soooooo weird to be posting all kinds of pictures of MYSELF. It feels so vain. Nonetheless! I shall persist for the benefit of mankind. {Now that’s realllllllly vain!}
Ahem.
Johanna made a good point in the comments on my “What I Wanna Wear” post about trying to dress up something I already had. And I thought that was a great idea! But…I was still striking out. So Thursday night – as in the night before the ballet – I set out to find something to wear.
And I found it. At Marshalls. For $40. The tag from the original seller said $128! {Do you think they lie just so you feel like you’re getting a great deal?} Anyway, I was so happy!
It’s a “refined” knit jersey** maxi which is so comfortable without being too casual. The details at the neck and at the waist really help dress it up too.
And because I’m so very much in love with the dress and the entire outfit, here are a few more pictures. {Excuse me as I indulge in a moment of vanity.}
I wore my hair pulled into a low side ponytail. Adorned with a pretty clip.
The clip started as a headband from Kohl’s, but it made me look like a little girl. So I pulled the pretty flower thing off the headband and attached it to a barrette.
Other than my earrings that I’ve had for ages, the only other jewelry I wore was this lovely bracelet that was my grandmother’s. She gave it to me for Christmas many years ago.
And finally, the outfit was finished off with some wedges I found at Macy’s on clearance and bought with a gift card.
And there you have what I wore to the ballet!
Oh….You want to know how the ballet was??? It was fabulous! Amazing! Beautiful!!! To my very untrained eye it was perfection! But even my teacher said they did a fabulous job. I’m even more in love with ballet than I was before! The dancers are amazing! The strength. The agility. The grace. ::::::::sigh::::::::: Ballet, I love you.
And I love that I had a good excuse to get dressed up!
{Dress by Max Studio from Marshalls | Shoes NW PowerSurge by Nine West from Macy’s | Hair clip originally a headband from Kohl’s | Bracelet a gift from my grandmother | Earrings old enough that I can’t remember where I got them – probably Dillard’s or Macy’s}
*Anyone catch that Anne reference? Props if you did! “Tenterhooks” – here I looked it up for you: tenterhooks. Basically it was used in the 18th century to mean “unease, anxiety, or suspense.” But the history of the word is interesting, so click over if you have a spare moment.
** “Refined knit jersey” is a definition of the fabric that is all my own. It’s definitely a knit jersey, but I’m not sure what the official name is. It’s very soft and elegant. Not your typical t-shirt jersey.

I love the dress!
