As part of our homeschool curriculum, I am taking time each day to focus on Bible memorization. Children pick things up SO quickly that I feel like now is the prime time to get the Word in them {while memorization comes easily} and that it will {hopefully!} get my children into the habit of memorizing Scripture on a regular basis.
If you’ve been around for awhile, you know that we memorized Proverbs 8 together in the fall. When we picked school back up after Christmas break I decided we’d learn the books of the Bible. We recently completed the Old and New Testament books.
Okay.
Let’s have a show of hands. How many of you can quote the books of the Old Testament in order?
It’s hard, right!!!??
I used to get so bogged down in the prophets. I think I finally have them all straight now.
The boys amazed me {they always do} with how quickly they picked it up.
I knew T would do fine. He’s an auditory learner, and picks things up fast. But Mr B blew me out of the water! He was Dueteronomy-ing and Levictus-ing and Haggai-ing with the best of them!
And – not to brag or anything – but I had to take videos of them quoting the Old Testament books.
{One of these days I’ll probably post the New Testament books too.} FYI: This video was taken a little while ago, and the kids have already changed! But I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share it with you!
T first:
And Mr B.
You HAVE to watch Mr B – it’s honestly the cutest thing ever with how he pronounces some of the books.
Thanks for letting me have that proud Mommy moment.
{You’ll never guess what finally came in!!!!!! But you’ll have to wait until Tuesday. Sorry!}
Jenna, they are just TOO cute!!!! This is great what you are doing with them. Keep up the good work.:) Love ya.
I love this too!
Very nice job! I know I was older than that before I had the minor prophets down. We used to sing a song, and that is probably the only reason I can remember them. Praise God that your boys are enjoying memorizing at such a young age! What an accomplishment for them!
How sweet. What an accomplishment. Love those boys.
So wonderful!!! My kids memorized the books of the New Testament this year. That was relatively easy because I taught them a song I had learned when I was their age that simply puts the books to tune. Alaine even tries to sing it with us. Her favorite part is,” Peter, Peter, John.” We’ve tentatively started the Old Testament, but we’re only 6 books in.
