The Boys Memorize the Books of the Old Testament

As part of our homeschool curriculum, I am taking time each day to focus on Bible memorization. Children pick things up SO quickly that I feel like now is the prime time to get the Word in them {while memorization comes easily} and that it will {hopefully!} get my children into the habit of memorizing Scripture on a regular basis.

If you’ve been around for awhile, you know that we memorized Proverbs 8 together in the fall. When we picked school back up after Christmas break I decided we’d learn the books of the Bible. We recently completed the Old and New Testament books.

Okay.

Let’s have a show of hands. How many of you can quote the books of the Old Testament in order?

It’s hard, right!!!??

I used to get so bogged down in the prophets. I think I finally have them all straight now.

The boys amazed me {they always do} with how quickly they picked it up.

I knew T would do fine. He’s an auditory learner, and picks things up fast. But Mr B blew me out of the water! He was Dueteronomy-ing and Levictus-ing and Haggai-ing with the best of them!

And – not to brag or anything – but I had to take videos of them quoting the Old Testament books. {One of these days I’ll probably post the New Testament books too.} FYI: This video was taken a little while ago, and the kids have already changed! But I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share it with you!
