A Simple Party

Remember when I told you the other day that I had had a small party that I wanted to blog about? Well, today’s the day! It’s been…I don’t know…almost a month? But that’s okay! We’ll just pretend like it was yesterday. ;)

It was actually really neat. The Women’s Ministry at our church calls it “Circle of Friends” – and they organize several ladies to host and then the ladies of the church sign up for whichever home they’d like to go to for an evening of fellowship. I LOVE the concept and wish I had people into my home more often! {I’m working on it. This is a constant area of work in my life. Hospitality… I want to do it, I just don’t always make a point to do it.}

Since the evening was supposed to be laid back, I didn’t go all out. But I couldn’t let an opportunity like that pass me by without doing a little something! {Like wash my white slipcovers. :::giggle::: Well, I did, but…that’s not exactly what I was talking about.}

Welcome!

I had received my dream table two days before. We hadn’t even eaten a “real” meal on it yet!

Simple table…

{sorry…I forgot to turn the light off!}

Serving coffee, Texas Tea, and {one of my faves} California Citrus Cake. {Recipes coming soon!}

An event doesn’t have to be lavish to be pretty!

Toss some forks in a pretty cup and tie a ribbon around it – done. {PS – I bought those wooden forks for a previous event. Truth be told, I think they’re kind of weird to eat off of.}

The plates were just plain jane clear plastic that I gussied up. {“How to” coming soon! If you don’t figure it out first. It’s really easy. ;) }

I sent my guests home with {all the rage} succulents. I had been inspired by this wedding I had assisted my mom in photographing. {Now don’t get excited, I just carry the camera bag and help her change out lenses.}

My sweet friend Karen had celebrated her birthday the day before, so why not stick some candles in the cake and sing Happy Birthday?!

Parties don’t have to be fussy or cost a lot. But putting just the tiniest bit of thought in goes a long way. Regardless, it’s the fellowship that everyone remembers. It’s the being together and sharing with each other and encouraging each other. It’s the friendships that matter!

I’m so grateful I got to host a Circle of Friends! I need to do it more often.

And to those of you who came – thanks for coming! I’m so blessed to have each of you in my life!

Gray striped straws and wooden forks from Garnish.
Pink straws from DimeStoreBuddy on Etsy.
Plates and napkins from Party City.
{All items left over from previous parties {yes!}.}

Tutorials for: Texas Tea, California Citrus Cake {the best!}, how I planted the favors, and dressing up plain jane plastic plates – all coming soon to a blog near you! Stay tuned. ;)
