Texas Tea {a recipe for summer in a glass}

Do you have any foods that you’ve fallen in love with where just the mention of the name makes your mouth water and your tummy grumble?

Yeah, me too.

Powdered sugar donuts {you know the little kind that you can eat in a bite or two}
Rainier cherries {I even blogged about them}
Ocean Water from Sonic

…my tummy’s rumbling…

Well, Texas Tea is also one of my faves. And California Citrus Cake. Both of which I served at my simple party.

And, lucky you, today I’m going to share with you the recipe for Texas Tea.

It tastes like summer in a glass. So yummy and fresh! {And easy too!}

Texas Tea

Here’s what you’re gonna need:

  • 1 quart of boiling water {if you’re anything like me, you’ll google “how many cups are in a quart” so I’ll save you the trouble and do it for you – google says there are 4 cups in a quart}
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 7 small tea bags {I used 4 large family sized tea bags}
  • 12 mint sprigs
  • 6 ounces of frozen lemonade {you’ll notice mine is larger than 6 ounces, I just used half of it}
  • 4 cans of water {this is equivalent to 24 ounces of water}
  • 12 ounces of pineapple juice

Put your sugar, tea bags, and {washed} mint into a pan.

Boil some water, measure out 1 quart {or 4 cups} and pour it over the sugar, tea bags, and mint.

Let steep for 30 minutes.

Tick, tock. Tick, tock.

Remove the mint and tea bags.

Add in the frozen lemonade, the additional 24 ounces of water, and the pineapple juice. Mix well.

Transfer to a pitcher if you’d like.

Serve over ice in a pretty glass with a straw and you’ve got a scrumptious summer drink!

This recipe was given to my mom by a friend. One of my friends from the party asked for it, so I gave it to her. She’s since made it several times. And now I’m sharing it with you! Maybe we should call it friendship in a glass?

Enjoy!

    LOVE this tea!!! I got some from my mom after her Cinco de Mayo party and then she gave me some mint and I made some for a Heat playoff party. I really want to make it all the time, but I’ll try to reserve it for parties and special occasions only. It will be hard though… Thanks for the recipe!

  3. Yum! That looks good…perfect for summer. I’d love it if you would consider sharing it with our Summer Recipes linky party. We’re two blogs sharing one combined linky party for double exposure.
