Curtains: Hit or Miss?

Remember when I showed you our living room???

It was painted [literally] the color of cardboard.

Well, that was a while ago now, and after much work
(I won’t lie… my husband did most of it!)
it is finally caulked and painted.

I am so happy with the color choice! It really has brightened the room more than I even anticipated.

I painted the fireplace to match the rest of the trim, Jonny caulked the walls
[which look incredibly awesome],
and we painted the room what’s called “Navajo White”.

We had purchased the rug for the room before we moved in,
and we’re completely happy with it.
The curtains that were left by the previous owner weren’t bad, but they were dark…
and that’s exactly what I DIDN’T want.
So, when we took them down to paint around the window,
it was so much brighter, I didn’t want to put them back up!

There are bamboo blinds up, but they don’t offer privacy in the evening, so
it became an issue:
We needed curtains.

I thought I would make some…
So I was searching for some fabrics and came across a couple that I thought would really look good in the room.

{Sidenote: The challenges with picking these things out are that in each decorating decision I keep in mind the age of the house and the ultimate goal to keep it cohesive and compliment the history. So, in picking out curtains, I wanted to find a print that would fall into those parameters.}

I’ve got enough things on my to-do list, so making curtains was gladly removed from it when I found these curtains at World Market on sale. :)

They have the same purple in them as the rug and also bring in that pretty blue color.
I think they look better in person than they do in these pictures, but since I can’t have each of you over to take a look at them, we’ll settle for the pictures. ;)

Do you see that blue in there??
I love it.

Which led to me admiring this chair:
Which I, in all honesty, will probably never get…
but it’s got me thinking of other possibilities :)

Like maybe reupholstering another chair in this color??

… there I go adding things to my to-do list again…
