Goodwill is My Friend

I went to Goodwill on Saturday.

It had been weeks.

Months even.

It had been too long.

So in a moment of boredom, I announced to Nolan that I was heading to Goodwill.

Do you know what he did? He rolled his eyes. No joke. It was a friendly eye roll. He knows I love me some Goodwill! But, seriously, I could have announced that I was going to J. Crew or Mayors or Saks. ;)

So off to Goodwill I merrily skipped {in my beast of a vehicle}.

I think that was the quickest successful Goodwill trip ever to be made by mankind womankind.

I walked in the store and bee-lined it for the kid’s clothes. Before I even made it that far, my eyes alighted on this beauty.

I couldn’t even find the price. But I cared not. I have not the fainest clue what I’ll do with this magazine rack, but I am convinced I will give it a good home somewhere. I’m imaging a paint job in it’s future. The condition is near-perfection, and the bamboo-esque look is fabulous. {It ended up being $5}

I hooked that baby on my arm {I didn’t even take the time to get a cart} and continued on my merry way to the kid’s clothes.

After a super-quick inspection of the kid’s clothing rack, I snatched up 3 practically perfect items.

Not pictured: a pair of never-seen-much-wear {if any} Gap shorts in Mr B’s size {which were in the wash when I took the picture}.

If you are astute, you will probably surmise that the cute little plaid shirt on the left is too small for my boys. Your assessment would be correct, it’s 0-3 months. Your following thought would not be correct. No, I am not pregnant. I just couldn’t pass it up for any potential Q additions. In the future. Future. I like to think ahead. For the future.

So I’m already feeling pretty good about my Goodwill run.

And then, to cap my trip off. To make it a huge success. To get me scooting out the door…

Tucked between some rather wretched pieces of art, I found this…

Can you say FANTASTIC-O?!?!?!

Didn’t stop, didn’t think. Flipped it over, saw the price at $10 and said “sold.” {In my head, not out loud.}

That baby is heeeavy. And remember how I didn’t have a cart? So with my bamboo magazine rack hooked over one arm with the kid’s clothes in the grasp of my fingers, I grabbed that heavy {beautiful! amazing!} bamboo mirror with my other hand and proceeded to the check out.

I had intended to peruse the women’s clothes. And the linens {I’m always on the lookout for cool old blankets, which I have yet to find}. And maybe even the purses. But my hands were full {and that mirror was heavy}. So I made my hasty exit while dancing a little happy dance inside.

The lady behind me in line even commented on my success in getting a “matching set.” So happy!

Can you guess what I was thinking when I found that mirror {besides thinking that I would FIND a place for it in my home no matter what}? I was thinking it might just be perfect for my powder room! {You know that room that has made zero progress in recent days? Ugh. I so need to get on that!} And after having Nolan hold it up – I’m almost certain it’s going to be just the thing!

With a little paint, I think it’s going to be perfect {you can’t tell so much in the picture, but it could use a little paint job to freshen it up}.

Goodwill, you’ve served me well. I salute you.

Anyone else had some great Goodwill finds lately? I love a good Goodwill success story, it must be the romantic side of me coming out.
