{I don’t believe I’ve ever used the word ‘sprucing’ before just now! LOL}
I found a little white cabinet at the Share Shop.
(The place I told you about in this post.)
As soon as I saw it, I snatched it up, knowing that we would need it in our little hall bathroom that lacks storage.
And I’m so glad I did.
… Because it keeps the toothbrushes, hair ties, and BANDAIDS out of reach!
(Have you found that you have to keep the bandaids out of reach? Especially the ones with princesses, and kitty cats, and Cars?!? If not, then the day you buy them, they will be gone. … Used for every little bump or ”pretend owies”…
)
{Okay… back to the subject at hand}
This little cabinet is cute, but needed some help.
First of all, it didn’t have any shelves, but it DID have the little brackets that hold shelves.
Luckily, that wasn’t a problem, because we had some glass shelves that were left from the previous owner, that my handy hubby cut down to fit! Problem solved.
It needs a paint job. (Which I still haven’t done, because it’s not that desparate for one and there are so many other things to do!)
But I was thinking last night that I would like to paint the back of it a different color. But then, remembered that the screws that mount it to the wall can be seen:

…and thought if I covered the back with patterned paper, that would hide the screws and look pretty cool! But… the problem with that is that it’s a weird size, and I’m not going to go around searching for some bigger paper just to put in this little cabinet. (I don’t want to turn a little project into a big project!)
{And now, while typing this, a pretty wrapping paper would even work!}
Then I remembered that I had leftover fabric from that intimidating chair, and it would match the bathroom! WOOO HOOOO!
Soooooo… I pulled the scraps out and [after measuring the cabinet] found one that would work!

I ironed it and marked it with a Sharpie.
I made the lines on the outside of the measurement… does that make sense??…
…you want the inside of the line to be the correct measure.
So, I cut it inside the line, so you wouldn’t see the markings when it was cut.
Then I ironed it again for good measure.
To put it in the cabinet, I had some options…
Spray Adhesive
Double-stick tape
or Fabric-Tac [permanent] glue
Since I still need to paint the cabinet,
and the screws will eventually need to be accessed to take the cabinet down,
I went with the double-stick tape.
(tape that is sticky on both sides)
I have found that this tape holds surprisingly well.
My husband put a battery-powered ’puck’ light in the top
to “spruce” it up some more.
And here’s the finished product:
I’ll have to take a pic when it’s not so bright in there.
It really does look so much better, and the project literally only took about 20 minutes total.
… that’s my kind of project!
