AYE, AYE! Knock-Off T-Shirt {and an adorable boy to model it}

One of my blog friends, Kristin from Bits & Pieces from My Life, took a dress that was handed-down to her daughter and changed up the sweet embellishment when it got a little droopy. Then she did it again. And again. And I’m not sure how many times, but I know she’s done it for several seasons. It’s been so fun to watch the recreation of that little dress!

{Here’s the dress she’s been making over. Isn’t her little girl adorable?}

Well, at the beginning of the summer she announced The Dress Project Summer Challenge. Along the same lines that she has made-over her daughter’s dress, she challenged us to makeover something of our own! {And she’d love it if you joined the challenge too!}

And…

I’m finally getting around to doing it! {Yes, Kristin, this post is for you! I told you I was working on it! :) }

So believe me when I say that sometimes it takes me awhile to get around to things. I have SO many ideas spinning around in my head. Some of them will eventually be made into reality. And some of them will never see the light of day. And sometimes in the process of sitting on the back burner, I figure out that my initial idea wasn’t so hot after all. ;)

And if waiting a couple of months to get around to her challenge isn’t enough. I’ve had this idea {that fits so perfectly with her challenge} for, quite literally, over a year now. Whoa…

It started with these two graphic T’s I saw in a J. Crew/Crewcuts catalog. Over a year ago.

{due to the fact that these shirts are no longer available, I cannot link to them}

I had pretty high hopes of DIY’ing them. Even bought the paint and t-shirts. I bought the t-shirts with the intention of making them for T. I made the shirts for Mr. B. {Lol!}

If you follow me on Instagram you even got a sneak peek!

I started with these basic t’s from Target. Apparently from the tags, I picked the green one up on clearance. I don’t really recall. :)

And after a little DIY magic we have….

And this cute kid was more than happy to model for you.

I had SO much fun doing a little photoshoot in the backyard with Mr. B.
He was immensely cooperative!

He’s getting so big! {And, yes, our grass is majorly long. We’ve been getting tons of rain. Poor Nolan can barely keep up!}

Sorry for the picture overload. I left lots of them out. He’s just too adorable!

So there’s my Dress Project Summer Challenge entry! Wanna join in the fun?! {Head over to Kristin’s if you do!} Psst…It doesn’t have to be a dress…or, ya know, my entry would be disqualified. ;)

Tune in later for the “how to” on how you can DIY your own custom or ::ahem:: knock-off t-shirt! And I’ll be sharing the lobster version too!

PS – I thought it was SO funny that both Sarah and I have been working on shirt projects {here’s hers if you missed it} AND that our kids were modeling in fedoras. Great minds think alike! :)

PSS – You’ve still got time to enter some of the giveaways! You can click right here to see them all in one spot.

    Love it, Jenna! And thanks for linking up. :-) As for the grass, I heard last night that we’re supposed to be in a drought, but our grass is out of control, too. My husband cuts grass at work all day and he can barely keep up with our grass at home!
