So I’m back with some more DIY inspiration from the vacation {Part I over here}. Including my faaaavorite. So let’s get started!
This fun display was in the loft of a store in downtown Fort Myers. They have a neat tea and refreshment area. How chic!
A lot to take away for the home too!
- Chalkboard menu display {love the bigness of this one! also like it up high over the cabinets.}
- Teas in tins! What a great display! Use if for spices maybe?
- Also loved all those pretty glass teapots. So maybe we can’t all have 4 million glass teapots, but…a good reminder to group like items for maximum impact.
Here’s a little outdoor table at a restaurant called Ford’s in Downtown Fort Myers {yummmmmmy bugers!}
Check out the napkins…Here’s a close-up:
Since Ford was into cars and all
the restaurant was “garage” themed. These napkins are {clean!} shop towels with metal bands {technical name: hose clamps} for napkin rings. Love the detail and practicality. They are probably fairly inexpensive too! {I’d check for the towels at Wal-Mart, Pep Boys, or other automotive stores.} These “napkins” could also work for a country themed event and maybe even the napkin part {without the metal band} for a French feel. This idea is definitely filed away in my “to use someday” file.
Nolan added this one to the group…Light up spiders made from light bulbs and LEDs. You can bet, I didn’t take that picture!
So now for my favorite DIY inspiration…
This table was in the lobby area of the Marriott right next door to our condo.
Soooo pretty….! Right?
I love this display of shells. Easy, peasy.
Get an apothecary jar. Pour some sand in the bottom. And lay all your vacation treasures right on top. A chic {and cheap} display.
But…Get a load of these lamps!
I would have happily packed these up in my bag if I could have. Beautiful!
I thought the shades were particularly stunning. And…DIY-able!
Add some grosgrain ribbon to a drum shade {like I did to my master bedroom lamps way back when}. And glue on some nail head trim! Now….I’m thinking you might have to cut the pointy part off the nail heads with a pair of wire cutters so no one gets impaled by your lamps. But I think this would be completely doable!
It is definitely on my to-do list now!

Well, folks, that’s all the DIY inspiration I brought home with me. Hope you were a little inspired too!
