Let’s Get Away – Vacation Edition: Fashion

Hope everyone had a great Labor Day relaxing and enjoying family! I know we sure did! The boys did a little fishing. Nolan did a little work around the house. I did a little shopping, a little visiting with my mom. And we all had a laid back afternoon enjoying time at my parents. I’m thankful for holidays that let you take a little break from routine!

I don’t know…maybe it’s just me…but I love looking at what people wear. So I thought – why not share with you my vacation wardrobe.

Not that I’m a fashionista or anything, but I do like pretty clothes!

So then…

What I Wore on Vacation.

I packed WAY too many clothes. I picked out all my favorite clothes and outfits and packed stuffed them in my bag. Lol! I just figured I needed as many options as possible. ;) When you’re driving, you have the bliss of over-packing and no weight limits. I also packed tons of jewelry. And get this – I wore one pair of earrings the entire time.

I didn’t wear even half of what I brought. Lesson learned: pack only one or two extra outfits.

Hahaha…I probably did not actually learn that lesson. So more like: lesson I should learn.

Day 1…we spent time in the car and time outside walking around on the Ford and Edison Estates, so I wanted a comfy {but cute!} outfit.

Me and Mr. {larger than life} Edison

Dress: Old Navy {I thought these were great for the price – $12, I think?} Sooo comfy! I also bought one for  swimsuit cover-up
Earrings: J. Crew outlet
Sandals: Target
Ring {that you can barely see}: 2Monkees on Etsy

Nolan and I even coordinated. I assure you that it was unintentional. No really – it was!

That night we went out to eat at a nice restaurant. Pretty dress {of course} required. ;)

I looked high and low for a pretty dress that was dressy-ish without being over the top and modest and not a million dollars. Hard work that was!

Here it is full length.

I finally found the dress in the Juniors section. Okay…I’ll take it!

Dress: Dillard’s Juniors {For around $34. I never would have looked in juniors, but I was determined to look at all the dresses and happened to wander into the juniors section. Works for me!}
Cami: Dillard’s Juniors
Shoes: Nine West Power Surge from Macy’s {the same ones I wore to the ballet}
Necklace: Banana Republic {a gift from Leah, my sister}
Earrings and bracelet: J. Crew

You already saw this picture of Nolan and me at the restaurant.

Day 2 … spent the morning at the pool and the afternoon hanging out around town.

Swimsuit cover-up: Cape Cod Tunic in White from Downeast Basics {on sale for $14.99!}
Swimsuit: J. Crew
Earrings {same pair I wore all week}: J. Crew Outlet

After the pool, I changed into this…

Because I couldn’t’ resist a good contemplative pic.

Shirt: J. Crew Outlet
Shorts: J. Crew Outlet {these are similar}
Earrings: J. Crew Outlet
Shoes: Emeline Sandal in Gold from Target
Watch: Slipping into the Future Watch from Francesca’s
Bracelet: Hand-me-down that my dad got somewhere along the line

Day 3…Nolan and I hit Sanibel Beach for a little shelling, then joined our friends on a boat, so I pretty much wore my swimsuit all day.

I’m having a hard time deciding how I feel posting a picture of myself in a swimsuit online. But…Since it’s modest, I guess it’s okay. Classy and modest can go hand in hand! Here’s one Nolan snapped while we were at the beach.

Swimsuit: Asymmetrical Ruched Bandeau Tank from J. Crew
I this bought online when they were having a huge sale/clearance on their swim wear. I think it was about $40-$50 which is great for any brand of swimsuit. I love that their suits are high quality and should last through many seasons. Not to mention that it’s a one piece that looks good! And I love the classic cut that won’t be going out of style.
Flip flops: Classic Flip-Flops from Old Navy {at their $1 sale!}

At sunset on the beach…

{Why, yes, I do have sunglasses’ tan…lol…}

This is the other Old Navy dress I bought that is the same style as the green one I wore the first day. Again…easy and comfy. This one is too see through for a normal dress, but great for a swimsuit cover-up!

Day 4…We spent the morning enjoying downtown Fort Myers and then headed home!

Tanks: Old Navy – I love the smooth texture instead of the ribbed
Shorts: J. Crew via eBay
Shoes: Target
Necklace: Old Navy {I get SO much wear out of this thing!}
Purse: Kohl’s

If you picked up on nothing else, you probably picked up on the fact that I love J. Crew. Love their classic leanings, love their style. Love their good quality. Especially love their sales at the outlet where I buy most of my stuff at prices I would pay at Target on clearance.

So there’s another glimpse into our vacay!

    So glad you shared this. I love to see what people are wearing, too. Looks like we have a similar style.
