You already saw the party,
but I wanted to share some of the specific ideas every so often.
This idea for the Favor Buckets can be used for lots of different themes.
I had found these buckets on Target’s dollar spot clearance after Fourth of July
(which explains the red, white and blue)
They were 75% off.
That’s right. 25c/each!
When I started to plan specifics of the party, I thought it would be great to use them for the favors… and then after deciding on doing a little treasure hunt, thought it was even more perfect.
)
With the pirate theme, I wanted it to [obviously] have something to reflect that… but I didn’t think that the kid’s [especially the girls] would use it for anything to do with pirates after the party… Soooooo… I thought it would be fun to paint them with chalkboard paint, and draw the scull and crossbones and their names on with a chalk pen. Then it would be removable, and they could use it for whatever they wanted. (Maybe a bucket for their sidewalk chalk?)
So, here’s the specific ‘How-To” on how to paint them, if you’re interested…
)

Sand the area down with fine-grit sandpaper… I used 150 grit.
(It’s not necessary to sand the paint off… just make the surface smooth so that the paint adheres well.)

I liked that the inside of the bucket was a different color.
After painting them, I primed them…
Like Jenna explained in her post about Chalkboard paint.
Now, as for the chalk pens…
I don’t know if you can get them at Michael’s,
I order mine online…
I’ve used a few different brands, and prefer this one on Amazon.
