The dining room has undergone some changes in the last month or so.
Wanna see?
I love how little things all added up make a big difference!
So here’s where we started.
Note… the drab wall color. That was the first thing to change.
If you follow me on Instragram {jennaqu} or have seen my Saturday Snapshots, you’ve caught glimpses.
But here’s the real deal!
After a very, very, VERY long process of deliberation – I finally decided on a paint color.
I lost count of the samples I tried. I know at least 12. {I know, right?! How bad is that…}
{That was not all of them.}
My goal was to find one color that I could paint my dining room, living room, and family room since they are all very open to each other.
However…The light is {apparently} very different in each room, so I could not settle on a color that looked great in both the living room and dining room.
But I finally settled on one. I brought a gallon home, got it up on the walls of the dining room. And…hated it.
I guess I didn’t even take a picture. It was bad. Verrrrry pink undertones. Not so great. {Cedar Key from Benjamin Moore did not work in my space at all!}
After a few {almost shed} tears, I finally came to the realization that it would be okay to paint the dining room a different color than the rest of the living spaces. I know this sounds ridiculous, but it was very long and drawn out and I really struggled with this decision.
As it is, I am SO happy with the color in the dining room and the decision to paint it something darker and cozier than I will do in the living room!
So enough chitter-chatter! Here’s the finished product!
{This one is my fave!}
I looooove that deep gray!
It’s so rich and adds a lot of depth.
I also love that the gray has some warmth to it. It’s not as blue as some grays.
In case you’re wondering – the color is Functional Gray by Sherwin Williams {which I had color matched at Home Depot.}
A few other changes have been made in this room, but I think I’m gonna leave you hanging for today.

Very pretty! I especially love the floral upholstery on the chairs mixed with the wood table & the layering of the floral art over the more modern art. I love the contrasts.
Love it!! Where did you get your table and chairs? We are in process of building right now and this is exactly what I have been looking for!
Thanks! I’m really loving how the dining room is coming together!
The chairs were from Craigslist, but originally from a local company that doesn’t exist anymore.
The table I got from Joss & Main but it’s The Vintage Dining Table by Mastercraft.
Love the blog, and love this room. I have considered using gray but was worried about getting one that’s too cool. This looks warm and very inviting.
