Walls.
We all have them.
Unless you live in a tent, you have walls in your abode.
{And even then you have walls, just not the kind you can stick a nail in and hang a picture on.}
Having stuff hanging on your walls takes a house from feeling house-y to home-y.
So, y’all – please hang art on your walls. Your walls are crying out for love. {Okay, so I’m overly dramatic sometimes.}
But it doesn’t have to be expensive. Or cheesy. Or generic.
If you want to deck your walls on the cheap – here’s a simple solution:
Make your own art!
Honest, it’s not as hard as it sounds!
Sarah and I have blogged a lot about filling up our walls and making our own art.
Art doesn’t have to be an oil painting. Art can be a wall grouping or book pages or whatever strikes your fancy! It doesn’t have to be complicated. But I do think you should love {or at least like} it. Don’t hang stuff on your walls that you don’t like.
Here’s some cheap art ideas!
Some we’ve shared on the blog before, but some are just from around my house.
First up…
I love this. Free picture frame. A clearance wreath hanging from the frame with a piece of ribbon. I actually have a wire letter that is wrapped with pearls {it’s a Christmas ornament} hanging in the middle that has our initial {which I had to smudge out}. Eaaaasy. But so pretty.
You’ve seen these before in my living room. Old windows. They take up a lot of visual space on a wall that might otherwise be hard to fill! I think this wall needs some tweaking eventually, but it works for now.
These are in Miss M’s room. A super-easy piece of very meaningful “art.”
In my foyer. A platter adhered to the mirror makes a sweet welcome sign. Use a dry erase marker and you could make it say whatever you wanted!
A board. With some paint. It’s that easy. Modern art that coordinates with the master bathroom.
{I know!! I should have shown you that before!! I even have a post partially written. Bad blogger…}
In my dining room. Painted MDF. I penciled on the cursive letters using this method, then painted them. Cut the larger letters from scrapbook paper and glued them on. I NEED this reminder in clear view.
So that’s a little round-up of art from around my house.

Some of this art takes a smidgen of talent, but most of it takes a touch of thought, an Ikea frame and you’re done.
