I’m sure you’ve heard it before, but I just gotta say it!
Because it makes life soooooo much easier!
No matter how much you love clothes. Or how much you don’t love clothes.
You need a go-to outfit!
I’m talking something in your closet that you look and feel great in.
Something that when your friend calls you up and wants to catch dinner, you’ve got something to wear.
Going to the movies? You’ve got something to wear.
Date with the hubby? Check.
Church on the morning you just don’t want to think about what you should wear? You’ve got it covered.
Need to lead a Bible study? There you go.
PTA meeting? You go, girl.
It’s not necessarily that you wear it all the time {though you could}, it’s just that you know you’ve got an outfit lined up if nothing else in your closet is working out.
It takes the guesswork out when you just don’t have it in you to even think about what you’re going to wear.
I’m not going to tell you what your go-to outfit should be because we all look and feel different in different things.
But here are some things to look for:
- it’s a great color for you and makes you shine
- you feel great in it!
- comfortable enough so you’re not squirming and tugging and pulling on it
Here are two bonus points:
- kind of middle of the line between dressy and casual
- you can switch the pieces up to create a slightly new look
Wanna know my go-to outfit? You’ve seen it before!
I love to switch this same basic outfit up and bring in different accessories. Hopefully it will give you some ideas for your go-to outfit!
The great thing? With a little tweaking to this same basic outfit, I can wear it just about anywhere. Love that!
A great fitting pair of jeans. A pretty cardigan that is so me. A shirt to wear under the cardi. Switch out the jeans for a skirt if the mood strikes. And that’s it!
Then accessorize at will!
{Like the eggplant tights? Aren’t they fun?! No nonsense sent them to me to try out, and I’m loving them! Read more on this post.}
Another great thing? Because I love these pieces so much, they see a lot of wear. Buying quality items means they will hold up to the wear they see.
Quality items + lots of wear = low cost per wear.
Which means my hard earned dollars are working hard too!
I’m not saying you have to spend a fortune on a quality item, I’m just saying look for quality when you shop and spend your dollars there.
That skirt? I’ve had it for over a year. I think I paid around $40 for it. I know I’ve worn it at least 20 times. At least. That means that right now it’s costing me about $2 per wear. That’s pretty good! But I love it so much that I’m sure it will see at least 20 more wears, which means it will be like $1. You get the idea!
So there you have it. Make your “I don’t know what to wear” blues disappear by establishing a go-to outfit!
PS – Thanks to my Mom for the fabulous pictures! She took the ones on the No nonsense post as well.
I’d love to know…Do you have a “go to” outfit? What is it?
