Socks.
Ugh.
Right?
Especially kid socks!
I don’t know about you, but finding matches for all the socks, having the kids put them away, and then actually locating them when we needed a pair was not going too smoothly for us.
Especially the “locating a pair when we needed them” part.
Because in Mr B’s dresser there are only three drawers.
The top one was dedicated to shirts with the side area for socks.
On a good day it looked about like this.
I wish I was kidding.
Remember, one of the kids’ chores is to put their own clothes away. I’m still working on the “put them away neatly” part. Lol. But Mr B is only 4, so I’ll give him some grace.
“Are there even socks in that drawer?” you ask.
Why, yes. Yes, there are.
See?
Kind of hard to find.
Quite obviously, I needed a solution. Because this was.not.working.
Enter: The Sock Box!
I had some Kassett boxes from Ikea that I had been intending to use in Mr B’s room somehow, and they were the perfect solution!
I just plopped all his socks into the box.
And, call me crazy, but I actually have T keep all his socks in that same box.
They don’t wear a whole lot of socks because they wear flip flops a lot, so both of their socks fit in the same box.
I just really love that there is one place for socks for the boys. It makes it so easy!
It’s also great that Mr B knows where to put his clean socks and can always find a pair when he needs them!
Since he has built-in shelving in his closet, I just pop the box onto a low shelf.
I’m sure you could do the same basic idea, but put the box in a drawer – keeping the socks in their own little bin. Just gotta think outside inside the box a little.
There is another Ikea Kassett box right next to the sock box in the closet that holds Mr B’s underwear. Again, I love that they are separate from everything, which makes them easy to put away and easy to find. No more digging through the entire drawer to find what he needs.
