I shared this tip in passing before when I posted about waxing my dining room table. But I realllllllly feel like it deserves a post of its own. It’s just that good!
I can’t claim the credit for this ingenious idea – it’s one it found on Pinterest. But it’s really so good, it deserves to be shared again!
So without further adieu….
I give you:
How to Remove Water Rings from Furniture
the Super-Duper-Easy, No Stress Kind of Way.
Sadly, my brand-new table was developing water rings from glasses sitting out on it, right and left.
Exhibit A:
Exhibit B:
Of course, that did not make my happy, but I knew there had to be a solution. Pinterest to the rescue!
And the answer?
Mayonnaise!
Before:
I read several places that said to put mayo on the water rings and allow it to sit anywhere from a couple of hours to overnight.
We’re not a mayo kind of family {Miracle Whip, all the way, baby!}, but I figured they’ve got to be essentially the same thing so why not try the Miracle Whip?
During:
The kids got a huge kick out of this! I don’t know why. They just thought it was soooooo funny that I was slathering Miracle Whip on the table – on purpose!
Tick-tock, tick-tock.
I’m not very patient, so I said to myself, “self, if you wipe it up and it worked, then you’ve saved a lot of time. If you wipe it up and it didn’t work, you can squirt on more Miracle Whip and let it sit for longer. No biggie.”
I maybe let it sit for 15 minutes or so. Not very long really.
Wiped it up and viola!
No more water rings!!!
After!
Kind of like magic! {Only, I don’t believe in magic, so…}
It was a lot of work, I tell you, but so worth it. ((tongue in cheek, tongue in cheek))
Because, really? There couldn’t be anything easier!
I am beyond impressed and am totally thrilled to have this little creative tip in my back pocket. Let’s me breathe a little easier about letting cups sit out on the table. After all, it’s a table – cups are supposed to sit on it!
Got water rings? No worries! Slap a little mayo Miracle Whip on it!

Olive oil is my go-to solution to this – I haven’t tried mayonnaise. I wonder if the outcome is different? I’ll have to give it a shot and see.
